Back40 History & Timeline

1999

• Dave and Sandy Miller started a home-based website design business in Prague, Oklahoma

• Dave met with the clients. Sandy kept the books and populated the websites

• They started with one client, an iMac, a co-located server and a spare bedroom overlooking their "back forty" (hence the company name “Back40 Design, Inc.”)

2002

• Client list had grown over the first 4 years
  

• Hired first employee - a web designer

2003

• Opened first office in Shawnee, Oklahoma

• Hired more web, print, and magazine staff for Shawnee Shopper

• Web design services expanded to include print design as well

• Published first issue of the Shawnee Shopper magazine

2005

• Opened a second office in Edmond, Oklahoma

• Hired more web, print, and magazine staff for Edmond Outlook

• Published first issue of the new Edmond Outlook magazine

2006

• With over 6 years experience, our client portfolio continued to grow

• Increased staff for web, print, and 2 magazines (Shawnee Shopper & Edmond Outlook)

2008

• Merged two offices into one in Edmond, Oklahoma

• Sold Shawnee Shopper but remain a supporting role in it’s continued successful production

• Edmond Outlook magazine became a semi-monthly magazine with 6 larger issues per year

• Launched Back40 Design, Inc. Javelin® content management system
